The Tradition Continues

Hi, I'm Jill.  Kildare Tibetan Terriers has a forty year long legacy of producing happy, healthy puppies under the direction of my parents, John and Tane Kleist.  I spent the 70s and 80s  running around with other kids at dog shows while my mom and dad pursued their shared interest in exhibiting their TTs.  My husband, Steve,  and I are proud to continue their tradition of producing sound puppies who grow up to be treasured family members to their people (they don't really buy into the "owners" label for their people  as they consider themselves your equal.  :)

"Once you've had a wonderful dog, a life without one is a life diminshed."

While my parents loved everything about showing their dogs, I tried to develop a sincere interest in showing but I really always just loved one thing about it:  the dogs!  My husband and I along with our three kids  have owned many breeds over the years, and we began our own journey with raising puppies a few years ago once my youngest child left the nest.  Shortly before my parents retired from showing and breeding, I kept a puppy (my first TT of my own!) from one of their last litters.  She quickly became my husband's BFF, and she likes to think of herself as boss of our four other dogs.  We don't tell her that she's boss of no one, and everyone just lets 'Large Marge' think she rules the roost.   I learned A LOT over the years from my parents about ethical breeding and ensuring that we are only producing the healthiest pups possible through extensive health testing on both parents.  I have developed a puppy socialization routine over the past few years that begins with early neurological stimulation at 3 days old and continues right up until the day pups leave us.   I devote myself to my puppies, and I only breed 1-2 litters per year.  My program is intentionally very small so that I can give my own dogs the life they deserve with lots of walks, fun in the yard, a guaranteed spot on the bed, and all the spoils every dog deserves.
